Where Have All The Masters Gone

By: Bro. Don Treiber, 32°

Pataskala Lodge # 404 & Hiram Lodge # 18

WHERE HAVE ALL THE MASTERS GONE,

WHO RULED THE LODGE IN THE PAST.

WE NEED THEIR EXPERIENCE AND KNOW HOW,

IF THE LODGES ARE TO LAST.

THE TIME THEY SPENT, TO LEARN THE WORK

AND MAKE THEIR LODGES GROW,

SEEMS ALL FOR NAUGHT AS WE VIEW THE SEATS,

AND WONDER IF THEY WILL SHOW.

WE SOMETIMES WONDER WHY THE BOTHER,

TO TAKE THE TIME TO PREPARE,

WHEN AFTER ALL THEIR EFFORTS,

THEY JUST DON'T SEEM TO CARE.

CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE HOW FAR WE COULD GO,

IF ALL THE LEADERS WHO HAVE LEAD,

WOULD BE ACTIVE IN THE LODGE TODAY,

AND NOT BE ABSENT INSTEAD.

EACH PROMISES TO SUPPORT THE NEXT,

AFTER THEIR TIME HAS PASSED,

IF NOTHING ELSE THAN TO RETURN THE FAVORS,

THAT THEY RECEIVED WHEN ASKED.

IT'S GREAT TO SAY YOU WERE MASTER,

AND HAVE LEAD THROUGH A YEAR OF STRIFE,

BUT ONCE YOU ARE MASTER,

YOUR EXPECTED TO SERVE FOR LIFE.

TONIGHT AGAIN WE SIT ALONE,

THE FAITHFUL FEW WHO CARRY ON,

AND MAKE THE LODGE WHAT IT IS,

AND WONDER "WHERE HAVE ALL THE MASTERS GONE"?

Message From The Grand Master Of Masons In Ohio

We are the oldest and largest fraternity in the world, and this year we will be celebrating our bicentennial when six Lodges met in Chillicothe in 1808 to form the Grand Lodge of Ohio. There will be many public events around the state to mark this milestone.

Masonry has been a valuable asset over the years - from the time Ohio was formed out of the Northwest Territory to the present by helping our communities through our charitable contributions.

My theme for this special year is "The Wonderful World of Freemasonry." I chose this theme because we have so much to offer. No matter if we are active in the Scottish Rite, York Rite, or the Shrine, we are one family and conduct our lives in a moral and compassionate way with brotherly love, relief, and truth.

If you are not a Freemason, we offer opportunities for personal improvement and development, so feel free to visit our site. If you want to become a member of the "greatest fraternity on earth," please contact us for more information.

On behalf of the 116,000 Masons in Ohio, I welcome you.

Ronald L. Winnett
